It is a black onyx stone set in silver with the Ottoman State Emblem around the edges. Onyx, known as the stone of positive thinking and health, is also known as the “separation stone” or “luck stone” in some sources. The State Emblem of the Ottoman Empire was prepared for the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century, influenced by the insignia of the United Kingdom state tradition in Europe. Before that, the tughras of the sultans replaced the state emblem. The final version of the Ottoman emblem was put into effect by Sultan Abdulhamid II on April 17, 1882. There are two flags inside the Ottoman State Emblem. The flag with the crescent and star on a red background symbolizes the Ottoman Dynasty, while the flag on a green background symbolizes the Islamic Caliphate. The scales represent Ottoman justice, and the books on the scales represent the Ottoman code of laws, the source of justice, and the Quran.
